About
Hi, welcome to verndewit.com!

I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with my beautiful wife and two really cute kids. I enjoy spending time in the Rocky Mountains west of the city. Most of my photographs reflect the time since 2001 when I became very active in the outdoors and more serious about my photography. My only published work (so far!) is a series of photographs I took while on a mission trip to Tijuana, Mexico - the book is called Lives Built on Hope by Howard Major.

If you're just browsing around, you will be best served by checking out my favorite photos first. It's a collection of my best photographs and is always changing. Another good place to visit is the scenic collections which have some of my best landscapes and other scenic photographs.

If you wish to purchase any prints, the best place to start is in the scenic collections and browse from there. If you are located in Canada or the USA you can order high quality prints, printed, optionally mounted and delivered to your door by mpix.com. My trip section has a great number of photos which are also available for purchase - but I don't make claims that these are of fine art quality and as such they are priced cheaper than my other collections.

You can also order and download pictures for uses from personal (screen savers, printing yourself etc) to commercial applications (web use, magazines). This is not dependent on where you live of course! My prices vary a bit between my very high resolution panoramic images (up to 20MB or more) and my scenic, people and trip photographs. I also provide the option of downloading any photograph for your iPhone, Blackberry or other handheld device in the correct format for that device at very low cost.

Please note that my prices are all in Canadian dollars.

If you are interested in specific Canadian Rockies scrambles, climbs or hiking or canoe trips you should go to my trip albums where you'll find over 250 distinct mountain peaks, a variety of hikes and a number of canoe trips from Canadian Shield country. If you wish to purchase any of these images they are also available for ordering prints and downloads at reasonable cost.

Whatever you're doing here, I hope you'll stay a while and enjoy some of my photos. If they help you escape for just a little while, it was worth my time taking them. Send me an email if you feel like it - I'd love to hear from you!

Above all, I wish you all of God's blessings as you continue down the path He has laid in front of you.

Some of your photos are truly amazing. And from my experience some of them may be relevant to magazine market. Have you ever thought about that? In most cases it’s not about sending photos that your friends like, I would say in most cases magazines have really strange requirements. There are quite a few really good books and websites out there if you go looking. My suggestion is to check one of them – http://www.freelance-market.net – and try a couple magazines until you find out what does the job right for you. And certainly don't be despondent when your images are rejected or not used. After all it’s fun.

Great pictures Vern.

i came over from your link from fredmiranda and saw you great shots of the mountains trips. Now I can remember to check for hikes before I go. Although from the pictures you posted from the top of mountains, I am not sure I can hike as well as you.

Thanks for sharing great views and great pictures. Scott
