A beautiful tarn tucked in against the striking outliers of Soderholm.Biking the spur road into the south bowl of Soderholm.Phil hikes the old logging road.Phil kicks steps as the slope steepens considerably to the ridge.Starting up a hugely foreshortened avalanche gully to the west ridge over 500 vertical meters above.Not many entries in this register!Views over Burstall Pass to The Fortress.Birdwood, Leval, Lemon, Sir Douglas, King Albert, Talon, Back, Craddock, Lockwood, Joffre, Prince John, Queen Mary, Prince Henry, Prince Edward, King George.Looking back up the south valley of Soderholm.The avalanche gullies are surprisingly clear of debris.The Albert River valley at left.Mount Sir Douglas with its west ridge looking gnarly from this angle!Mount Joffre at distant left with the Royal Group looming in our faces. Peaks include (L to R), Prince John, Queen Mary, Prince Henry, Prince Edward and King George in clouds.Views to the beautiful Alcantara Creek (L) and Cross River (R) Valleys and peaks.Transitioning off snow onto loose scree.Soderholm comes into view.Traversing avalanche slopes back to find the trail in the forest.Views back down the ascent gully.The Fortress.Sir Douglas, Talon, King Albert, Back, Craddock, Lockwood, Joffre, Prince John, Queen Mary, Prince Henry, Prince Edward, King George, Tangle, Millstone.
